This project illustrated the importance in utilizing various reading materials. Typically, I use a novel to teach Greek Mythology. This time I incorporated a novel and graphic novels. This really spoke to my struggling readers as they were able to better visualize what was happening in the book. They were also able to better determine theme in the end. I used this method again this year in my 6th grade class and they loved it. Motivation was measured by student response. Students ran into class asking if we were still reading our graphic novels. When the project was over, they checked out more graphic novels from the library and asked to use them again in class.
